Scanning Handwritten Physical Journal Pages

How to snap a photo of your paper notebook pages to convert them into searchable, encrypted digital reflections.

Bridging the Paper Notebook and Digital Vault

Many of us love the physical tactile feeling of pen and paper. But paper journals have big drawbacks: you cannot search them by keyword, you cannot easily back them up, and anyone walking past your desk can open them.

ReAlign's Notebook Scanner bridges both worlds: you write in your favorite paper notebook, take a photo with your phone camera, and ReAlign transcribes your handwriting into your encrypted digital archive.

Tips for Accurate Handwriting Recognition

To get the cleanest transcription from your paper pages:

  1. Ensure good, even lighting without heavy shadows across the paper.
  2. Hold your camera flat above the notebook page.
  3. Tap "Scan Page" inside ReAlign.
  4. Review the transcribed text. You can edit any misspelled words before saving.
Helpful Note: Both the scanned photo and the transcribed text are protected by client-side encryption.
