Tactile Free-Write vs. Guided Prompts
When to choose an open, distraction-free blank page versus structured therapeutic prompts when your thoughts feel tangled.
In Plain English: What is the Difference?
Think of Free-Write as opening an empty, quiet notebook with zero interruptions. Think of Guided Prompts as sitting with a compassionate friend who asks you three gentle, sequential questions when you feel completely stuck.
When to Use Free-Write
Use Free-Write when: • Your mind is spinning with racing thoughts and you just need an immediate brain dump. • You are venting about a specific event and don't want anyone interrupting you. • You already know what you want to write and want toolbars and buttons to fade away.
- Tap "New Reflection" and select "Free-Write".
- Notice how toolbars gently dim while you type, keeping the focus entirely on your words.
- Save whenever you are done, or toggle on Atlas if you want feedback.
When to Use Guided Prompts
Use Guided Prompts when: • You stare at a blank screen and have no idea where to start. • You feel an uncomfortable emotion (like dread, guilt, or numbness) but can't pin down why. • You are working through a specific challenge (like setting a boundary or making a career decision).
