Who is Atlas? Our Socratic Reflection Principles

The philosophy and ethical boundaries behind Atlas: a gentle sounding board that asks thoughtful questions rather than telling you what to do.

A Reflective Mirror, Not an Authority

Atlas is ReAlign's reflective AI companion. It is grounded in person-centered humanistic psychology and Socratic inquiry.

What does that mean in simple terms? Atlas is **not** designed to give you unsolicited advice, lecture you, diagnose psychological disorders, or replace human friends and therapists. Instead, Atlas acts like a calm, thoughtful mirror. It reflects your own words back to you with gentle questions so you can find your own inner clarity.

What Atlas Will and Will Not Do

• Atlas WILL: Listen patiently, validate your feelings, help you spot when you are being too hard on yourself, and suggest gentle reframes. • Atlas WILL NOT: Judge you, pretend to have human feelings, lecture you, or store your thoughts for public AI training. • Atlas WILL NOT: Provide medical prescriptions, formal psychiatric diagnoses, or crisis intervention. In any emergency, Atlas immediately connects you to 24/7 human helplines.

How to Chat with Atlas

You can talk with Atlas anytime:

  1. After saving any journal entry, tap the "Reflect with Atlas" button.
  2. Atlas will read your entry and reply with 1 or 2 thoughtful observations and a clarifying question.
  3. Reply naturally, as if chatting with a trusted journal coach.
  4. You can end the conversation anytime or turn off AI entirely in your Settings if you prefer completely unassisted writing.
